The journey to be lighter...

Most everyone at some point has thought about going blonde.  It can be a fun and exciting change but I want to give you some knowledge on the process. You may think we can just slap some color on your hair and within an hour, boom, you're blonde.  We are good, but not that good.  In most situations we can not take you to blonde in one easy no hassle cheap service, especially if you have previously colored hair!  Here are some things to think about before you make the decision.

TIMING:
It will likely take at least 2-3 separate highlight appointments to reach the desired blonde, if you have previous hair color, especially a dark brown/black or red, it can take as many as 4-6, and sometimes more, separate appointments.
Going blonde is a delicate balance between lifting the hairs pigment and keeping the hair healthy.

THE PROCESS:
Typically in each appointment we do a highlight and lift the hair as much as we can while keeping a close eye on the strength, integrity and health of the hair to make sure we are not causing excessive damage.  After shampooing we assess the color and use a toner (a toner is a type of haircolor that is used to defuse or cover unnecessary tones in lightened hair) to the lightest possible color.  We don't like orange and yellow hair.
This process will repeat itself until we reach your desired results.

YOUR COST:
Going Blonde from a dark or red color can be an expensive, time consuming and frustrating process.  It is best to talk to your stylist and get a full knowledge of price and timeline before beginning the journey.
Going blonde requires maintenance. If you are going to do it, make sure you can afford the upkeep every four to 12 weeks, depending on the desired blondness and your existing natural color.

THE EXTRAS:
Typically, going blonde requires higher levels of ammonia or bleaching products. You will notice a texture change in your hair that most likely will require less shampooing and more conditioning.  Furthermore, ensuring your hair is healthy enough to keeping going lighter and lighter is another task in and of itself. You will need lots of moisturizing treatments in-between each service to help maintain healthy hair, In other words, hair treatments are a non-negotiable part of the process.

AND If you don.t think you can cut down on the hot tools then you probably shouldn't go for a drastic color change. Your hair is already suffering damage from going lighter, you're going to need to cut back on hot styling tools as they cause damage as well.  To use them wisely, keep them on lower temperature settings and always use a heat protectant to minimize damage/keep your color looking fresh.

Blonde is a beautiful color and can be a welcome change.  These are just a few of the things to know. Armed with the correct information and a good stylist you can have beautiful healthy blonde hair!
Good Luck with the Journey!
